The payments begin when the candidate starts and are disbursed over time. The contract terms are:

Market price: $3,700 USDEst.

Director of Activities, Assisted Living

Lions Gate is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Activities to join our Assisted Living community in Voorhees, New Jersey. As the Director of Activities, you will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and implementing engaging and therapeutic activity programs.


Job Duties:

  • Provide ongoing varied activities for residents that will provide meaningful and therapeutic experiences to residents at all levels of functioning.
  • Offer individual attention for residents who are unable to participate in group programs.
  • Promote creativity and assist residents in expressing and dealing with feelings and emotions.
  • Facilitate opportunities for physical, social, spiritual, creative, and intellectual functioning by stimulating the body and the mind.
  • Develop and promote activity programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.
  • Collaborate with the Director to establish a monthly calendar of activities that meet the needs of every resident.
  • Create a monthly Special Events calendar to include all residents and engage family members in joint programs.
  • Work with the Director of Volunteers to ensure an adequate number of volunteers are available to assist with various activity programs.
  • Attend care plan meetings and provide input regarding residents' participation in activity programs.
  • Meet with new residents and family members to establish personalized plans for promoting and enhancing their quality of life.
  • Complete initial activity assessments for new residents to create individualized activity programs tailored to their specific needs.
  • Assist the Director in completing and submitting entertainment and supply invoices, baking requests, and monthly department food order requests.
  • Collaborate with nursing and social services departments to plan appropriate activity programs for residents.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulations regarding activities for residents.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor or designee.

Job Requirements:

  • A degree in recreational therapy or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Activity Director Certification with the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals is required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in therapeutic recreation/activities in a geriatric environment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Professional Requirements:

  • Adhere to company and departmental personal appearance and dress code policy.
  • Report to work in a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Wear identification at all times while on duty or representing Lions Gate at functions.
  • Demonstrate dependability and punctuality by reporting to work on time as scheduled.
  • Comply with all Lions Gate policies regarding ethical business practices as outlined in the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with current requirements, including all State and Federal regulations including OSHA safety protocols and standards.
  • Complete annual mandatory education requirements (Corporate Compliance, HIPAA, in-service, etc.).
  • Assume accountability for policies and procedures as contained in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a positive behavior while providing quality services to residents and family members.
  • Follow resident rights/abuse policies and procedures and adhere to established incident reporting procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure resident and facility information as confidential material at all times.
  • Maintain a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with departments, staff, co-workers, and management.
  • Represent Lions Gate in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain the dietary laws for maintaining a Kosher environment.
  • Attend departmental meetings and in-services as scheduled.
  • Accept assignments in a cooperative and positive manner.
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Perform all duties of the job to assure resident and personal safety and the protection of co-workers and facility property.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
