TRAUMA ANESTHESIOLOGY
Join our team of dedicated trauma anesthesiologists at the nation’s first and only integrated trauma hospital. The University of Maryland, R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is currently seeking board-eligible/board-certified MD/DO anesthesiologists to provide dedicated 24/7 anesthesia coverage (including regional anesthesia) for the Primary Adult Resource Center for Trauma in Maryland.
Scope: This is an outstanding opportunity to learn new skills while working side-by-side with world-class trauma surgeons, intensivists and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. Faculty are intimately involved with education at all levels; from paramedics to critical care fellows and visiting physicians. Our trauma anesthesiologists are closely immersed with patient care upon arrival in the Trauma Resuscitation Unit to the critical care units and beyond.
Discover: Faculty are regularly invited to give national and international talks while having exceptional access to research resources. This includes a robust trauma registry, a congressionally supported National Study Center for Trauma and EMS, and membership in the Shock Trauma and Anesthesiology Research Organized Research Center (STAR-ORC). Faculty may also attain significant experience and certification in advanced resuscitative techniques. This involves transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, viscoelastic monitoring, regional anesthesia and extracorporeal support modalities (ECMO, CRRT, MARS). Faculty also maintain a very close working relationship with the Maryland State Police Aviation Command/Helicopter EMS and other statewide EMS agencies.
Benefits: The Department of Anesthesiology and Program in Trauma offers excellent benefits (including tuition remission for both faculty and dependents), loan forgiveness, competitive compensation and ample opportunities for academic growth and advancement. While preference is given to candidates with fellowship training (i.e., trauma, regional, cardiac, critical care), on-the-job training is possible for motivated individuals.
If you are looking for the place to build your career as an expert trauma anesthesiologist/resuscitationist, this is where you need to be!
