Job Description:
The program coordinator is an integral contributor to efforts to increase student participation in transformational, experiential learning opportunities and ensure the continued high quality of Ohio University’s global programs. The coordinator will develop relationships with faculty directors and their colleges through the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of programs in both US and abroad. They will liaise with internal and external stakeholders through the facilitation of study away programs including but not limited to providers, partners, and vendors domestically and internationally; students and their families, and internal stake holders integral to the programs’ success. They will also manage partial service programs, facilitating application access and advising on timelines and best practices. This position will manage the Office of Global Opportunities’ student advising including planning, implementing and evaluating the program. Specifics include: recruiting, hiring, training and managing peer advisors and student global ambassadors, developing advising materials and tools, and managing advising outreach efforts. They will also advise students preparing for global experiences, taking them from initial interest to choosing a program and pre-departure preparation to providing on-site support and reintegration programming. The coordinator will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on promotion, recruitment, and programming for their individual programs.
Program Management.
Manage a portfolio of strategic study abroad, study away, outbound exchange programs and partial service programs.
Collaborate with faculty directors in the creation and implementation of new programs, including budget creation, recruitment plan and logistics based on assessment of trends, risks, costs, and benefits. Provide training to new program directors, orienting them to processes, policies, and best practices.
Develop and maintain relationships with and act as liaison between students, faculty, and designated vendors.
Manage multiple on-going programs by overseeing planning and logistics, including but not limited to budget review and setting recruitment plans. Faculty director will rely on coordinator to provide analysis and problem resolution in additional areas, including but not limited to marketing strategies, student behavioral issues, implementing orientations, and on-site logistics.
Manage program evaluation process and analyze evaluation data for continuous improvement. Recommend changes as appropriate based on analysis.
Oversee college-based partial service programs by facilitating budget review, application access, and advising to colleges and program directors on timelines and best practices.
Ensure compliance with office and university policies, as well as state and federal laws.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate program management details in on-line tracking software (Salesforce CRM ); monitor administrative activities such as student application and nomination, course offerings and registration and data collection; and perform continual evaluation of both processes and programs. Ensure up-to-date website and publicity materials associated with their portfolio such as program information, annual print materials, and online application.
Attend some after-hours events such as program info sessions and orientations.
Handles confidential/sensitive information such as passport details, GPA , judicial record, health records and financial details.
Management of Department Advising Strategy and Student Advising Team.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate team of peer advisors and student global ambassadors. Plan, implement, and evaluate the Office of Global Opportunities’ advising efforts. Support and collaborate with University recruitment by maintaining a well-trained and staffed presence at outreach and yield events.
Develop advising materials and protocol to be used by OGO professional and student advisors. Train users and evaluate efficacy.
Liaise with colleges and departments to implement localized outreach and advising such a visits to classroom and on campus events. Manage the scheduling, training, and implementation of requested outreach presentations.
Provide recommendations for future advising efforts based upon evaluation of completed efforts and future goals and initiatives of the office.
Student Advising and Communications.
Advise students on study abroad and off-campus program opportunities from initial inquiry to post-program reintegration. Maintain up-to-date and accurate advising notes and records, utilizing tracking software. Create individualized follow-up plan for each advisee designed to guide them from interest to program completion. Maintain a broad and current understanding of university academic requirements, student development theory, and best practices in the field of international education.
Advise students interested in or participating on OHIO , exchange and non- OHIO programs within their portfolio. Troubleshoot issues that may arise with individual participants, liaising with faculty, other OHIO offices, and external program providers to solve problems and assist students. Collaborate with office leadership to address cases of behavioral, health, or other emergency situations.
Advise students on sensitive issues, such as requests for accommodation, concerns about healthcare needs, and special considerations for specific populations, including LGBT , minority, students with disabilities, and women, as appropriate.
Maintain and update advising materials in accordance with office and university policy, advising philosophy and best practices in the field.
Manage communications with external constituencies (parents, providers, non-student program participants, etc.). Coordinate campus visits from study abroad providers, select international partners, and guests. Liaise with a portfolio of program providers, advising and tracking students through application and paperwork processes.
Promote the value of global programs through presentations or attendance at events sponsored by other offices
Support students through travel visa research and application.
Other duties as assigned.
Manage a portfolio of scholarships through application set-up, committee review and award.
Present/facilitate required pre-departure orientation for students traveling abroad.
Participate in select university-wide committees and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in a related field by the agreed upon start date. (Or equivalent combination of education and experience.)
Minimum of 6 months experience abroad (studying, working, volunteering, or interning) or in an intercultural experience affording significant experience working with diverse populations either domestically or abroad.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in international education programming for college students.
Demonstrated dedication to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

Advertised Salary:
Pay Range for this position is Pay Grade 15 with a minimum staring salary of $45,837 up to $62,459 depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications. Employees also enjoy a generous benefits package.
