Job Summary and Qualifications Galen is looking for a highly motivated and talented intern to work with our current security team. The cybersecurity intern will gain experience in the many facets of cybersecurity including vulnerability discovery and management, offensive security, identity and access management, security operations, implementation of security initiatives and incident response. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate that is passionate about cybersecurity, self-motivated and wants to gain hands-on experience in the field of cybersecurity. Position Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of security controls, security best practices, and other needed security measures. Participate in vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks. Support the implementation and maintenance of security controls and measures. Help investigate and respond to security alerts, cybersecurity emails, phishing events, and other security events or incidents. Help conduct risk and security assessments. Evaluate new security technology as needed. Assist with documenting and creating security processes. Perform support services, including the management and maintenance of security solutions and other support services related to security within the organization. Assist with security awareness activities and training materials. Conduct research related to cybersecurity issues, threats and controls Other security duties as assigned. Position Qualifications: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology or related field. Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices. Knowledge of networking and operating systems. Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory and EntraID (AzureAD). Familiarity with the Microsoft platform including M365, Defender, Exchange Online, Azure, Sentinel and other Microsoft cloud services. Familiar with compliance regulations such as PCI, GLBA, and FERPA. Some experience with one or more scripting languages such as bash, PowerShell, or Python. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication skills – verbal and written. Can work independently, is self-motivated, loves to learn new things, and is a lifelong learner. Dependable, trustworthy, and works well in a team environment Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment : Standard 8-5 work week; Able to work outside regular business hours when needed, some weekend work when needed.
