Elm Terrace Gardens is currently seeking a full-time and part-time MED TECH/CNA for the 3-11pm shift in our Independent Living facility in Lansdale, PA.

Job Details
Purpose:
To perform professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of the Administrator of Personal Care/Director of Residential Living, and to assist in maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment for residents in the IL/Personal Care Facility. The duties should be performed in accordance with applicable current regulations and standards governing personal care facilities, and in accordance with the mission of Elm Terrace Gardens to promote the health and well-being of individual residents based on their functional abilities and potential.
Shifts available: Full & Part time 3pm-11pm
MED TECH AIDE - Duties:
- Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, care of clothes, hair grooming, shampooing, oral care, and shaving.
- Assist residents with tasks of daily living as directed by the Supervisor, including securing transportation, making and keeping appointments, shopping, use of the telephone, correspondence, personal laundry, social and leisure activities, securing health care, ambulation, use of prosthetic devices, and dining.
- Provide resident care functions as directed by the Admin/Supervisor, including measuring and recording of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
- Weigh and measure residents.
- Perform restorative procedures and assist with rehabilitative procedures.
- Complete medication documentation as required.
- Assist dietary staff in the resident dining room with meal service as needed.
- Identify food arrangement and components of different types of diets.
- Assist residents in after-meal care as necessary.
- Observe, report, and document changes in resident conditions to the LPN/Supervisor, including changes in levels of function, appetite, alertness, behavior, and skin breakdowns.
- Operate resident assistive devices, mechanical lifts, wheelchairs, and other similar devices and equipment according to safe procedures and training.
- Respond to emergency calls placed by residents in independent living apartments or placed by Security staff on behalf of such residents.
- Present positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures, and administration to Elm Terrace Gardens residents, staff, visitors, and other constituencies at all times.
- Report to work as scheduled.
- Assist with resident transport to and from activities, hairdresser, on site physician, dining rooms within ETG, and therapy.
- If employee completes and passes training required per regulations to administer medications, then can assist residents as needed with medications prescribed for self-administration and complete medications documentation as required.
- Must comply with proper medication administration procedures including required recertification and observations to remain in good standing as per DHS guidelines.
- Proper diabetic care, including insulin and BS documentation administration, training, and testing annually.
Resident Care Functions - Physical & Sensory Requirements:
- The ability to sit, walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, push, pull, and have fine hand coordination.
- The ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
- The ability to see and hear adequately to observe changes in resident conditions.
- The ability to come into close proximity to residents.
- The ability to hear and respond to call bells, alarms, and signals.
- The ability to read and write English.
- The ability to communicate with staff and residents.
- The ability to follow oral and written directions.
- The ability to remain calm under stress.
Resident Rights Functions - Duties:
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
- Treat residents with kindness, dignity, patience, and respect.
- Know and comply with the rules of the residents' rights.
- Adhere to residents' personal property rights at all times.
- Promptly report all resident complaints, accidents, and incidents to the Personal Care Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for reporting and investigating all resident incidents, accidents, and allegations of abuse.
Administrative Functions - Duties:
- Meet training requirements for personal care facility staff as established by the Commonwealth's Department of Public Welfare, Office of Social Programs.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations at all times, including fire safety procedures and disaster control; promptly report accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous equipment or conditions.
- Know and comply with basic facility infection control policies and procedures, including blood-borne pathogen standard and infectious waste disposal.
Administrative Functions - Physical & Sensory Requirements:
- The ability to make appropriate written entries.
- The ability to follow care plan instructions.
Other Job Functions - Duties:
- Attend and participate in orientation, staff meetings, training, in-service sessions, and other activities as directed by the Personal Care Coordinator.
- Review resident records daily and complete flow sheets.
- Maintain certifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and the Heimlich maneuver.
Other Job Functions - Physical & Sensory Requirements:
- The ability to understand, participate in, and follow training and in-service sessions and instructions.
All Other Duties as Assigned:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and completed high school or obtained the equivalent of a high school education; or be a C.N.A. in good standing and maintain as long as employed by Elm Terrace Gardens, must be able to take the DHS/Direct Care Worker test.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with one to three years previous experience in a licensed personal care facility and have been an employee in good standing in said facility.
- In accordance with Personal Care Home Licensing Regulation, must be certified or capable of obtaining certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and Heimlich maneuver.
- Must possess the ability to speak to and be understood by residents and staff in English, and demonstrate the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English.
- In accordance with Personal Care Home Licensing Regulation, must be of good moral character and must be free from a medical condition, including drug or alcohol addiction, that would limit the direct care staff from providing necessary personal care services with reasonable skill and safety.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must possess an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.
