Contract overview

Education and Requirements

-Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

-Must be a licensed Nursing Home Administrator for the State of Maryland.

-One year experience in healthcare administration.

-Advanced training in nursing home administration through workshops, etc.

-Possess strong management, communication, and public relations skills.

-Must be able to interact well with older adults and be sensitive to their needs and concerns.


Duties

*Direct, coordinate, and supervise the Nursing, Activities, and Social Services Departments for both Assisted Living and Nursing Home and activities in Independent Living.

*Through leadership, work to create a productive, positive environment throughout the facility.

*Adhere to organizational, federal/state regulations and guidelines as well as Resident's Rights.

*Interpret Pickersgill's philosophy and policies to staff and other parties.

*Develop, implement, and monitor policies pertaining to resident care, personnel, medical staff, financial status, and public relations for the assigned departments.

*Develop and maintain a good relationship/rapport with residents; address and resolve issues, concerns, and complaints.

*Participate in the development of and monitor budgets of assigned departments.

*Communicate with department heads on a regular basis.

*Ensure that assigned departments are appropriately staffed.

*Evaluate performance/operation of assigned departments, making recommendations/changes necessary to maintain service level, with approval of Executive Director.

*Establish and monitor policies, procedures, and systems to control the purchase, inventory, and maintenance of supplies and equipment.

*Work well and effectively deal with residents, staff, Board Members, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

*Select, supervise, evaluate performance, discipline, and manage the development of persons in assigned departments.

*Keep Executive Director apprised of departments' status.

*Attend all mandatory in-service training.

*Monitor and evaluate contracted services for assigned departments.

*Develop and maintain liaison with local hospitals and other health facilities in the area.

*Manage Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program for the facility and take action to ensure quality resident care.

*Oversee departmental staffing and monitor adherence to budgeted labor hour requirements, including controlling overtime and agency usage.

*Serves as Assisted Living Manager.

*Oversee Medicare Part A utilization, including regulatory compliance.

*Able to communicate effectively with residents, visitors, and staff in person and on the phone.

*Able to travel throughout the facility for extended periods of time.
