Overview: Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County, Sullivan, and Ulster are seeking a Peer Advocates for both Sullivan and Orange County. Job Locations Monticello, NY

The Peer Advocates primary responsibility is visiting clients in the community and on-site to provide support and overdose prevention training and offer ongoing support and referral to care for clients and their families, by using first-hand lived experience using substances to provide support through risk reduction counseling, naloxone training, and linkage to care.

Requirements: CRPA Certification - will train if CRPA eligible Clean NYS Drivers License Reliable transportation Computer skills Excellent communication skills Strong interpersonal and personal recovery skills and boundaries High school or equivalent Experience: 2 years personal Substance Use Disorder Treatment 2 years Addiction counseling. Reference check Willingness to travel

Hours and salary: This is a full-time position. $18.00 - $20.00 hourly, plus generous, full benefits; Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Holidays, and 401K/Retirement. Some of the essential duties of position:

  1. Using lived experience with substance use to support clients, introduce the program to potential clients and obtain consents for follow up services.
  2. Conduct overdose prevention education with clients, their families and their social networks including naloxone distribution.
  3. Assist clients with linkage to care and community resources.
  4. Provide/offer information on referral options to harm reduction programs, medication assisted treatment, and other services.
  5. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the program requirement and referrals to community services.
  6. Technical assistance and provide training on program implementation, policies and procedures as needed.
  7. Builds relationships and collaborates with community partners on continued integration of the SOR Program.
  8. Maintain detailed records of client contacts and follow-up activities. Collect and report program data to evaluate program performance as required.
  9. Facilitate groups using evidence-based models (i.e. Seeking Safety, Holistic Health Recovery Program). Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster is an equal opportunity employer.
