Contract overview
This is a placement contract between you and the employer. If the employer hires a candidate you submit, you'll be paid the contract amount.
The payments begin when the candidate starts and are disbursed over time. The contract terms are:
Market price: $3,100 USDEst.
Payment schedule: Paid monthly over 11 months
Job Summary:
As an Apprentice Jeweler, you will work with our team of experienced Jewelers learning the craft of jewelry repair, and fine jewelry creation in one of Signet’s elite Design & Service Centers. Working with our team gives you the opportunity to advance from beginner to artisan in a unique promote from within environment. Signet’s goal of this position is not only skill development, but improvement of jewelry work shop productivity through assisting jewelers at various stages of the repair and jewelry creation process. These processes include but are not limited to polishing, quality control, and shipping processes. At times, the position will require consulting directly with customers on the nature of work required for their jewelry repair needs. Our Design & Service Center team members are dedicated to delivering a customer first experience with exceptional quality and the delivery of work when promised. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Clean and polish jewelry using polishing wheels and chemical baths
- Proper chemical & Safety Knowledge
- Proper Design & Service Center tool maintenance
- Keeping a clean work environment
- Quality Control after becoming QC certified
- Cross-Training on our Signet Repair System
- Assisting where needed in the Design & Service Center
- Polish repairs in groups of 20, by store, and with no like merchandise
- All Lab-created diamond merchandise must be batched separately and isolated to a single designated ultrasonic and quality controlled
- Verify merchandise in the repair bag matches description on the repair ticket
- Review identifying features
- Confirm the ID tag with the merchandise matches the router card
- Confirm that unnoted damages, unclear instructions, or potential challenges were communicated to the stores
- Verify all work is completed according to Signet’s quality standards by utilizing the checklist and Quality Control cards as needed
- Verify all requests from customer have been completed
- Verify all identifying features from above remain visible and match to the repair ticket to Gemscribe number and/or other inscription on the girdle must be visible
- Verify no additional metal work is needed outside of original request
- Once all above steps are completed and the repair is ready to move to the next station, sign-off on the Router Card in QC box 4
- Maintaining a work station that is properly stocked with all consumable materials needed to complete expected polishing production

- 18 years of age or older

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Previous experience may expand job opportunities. GIA certifications (preferred). Preferred degrees would be BA, BFA, MA, MFA (preferred). Trade schools (preferred). Jewelers of America (preferred).

Travel by car is regularly required, you must have reliable transportation. Air travel and overnight travel may be required.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member while performing the essential functions of this job. Workweek hours will vary and will regularly includes some weekend, evening, holiday and extended hours. Design & Service Center environment is fast paced. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high. There is exposure to machines, fumes, heat and chemicals. Many tools, such as jeweler’s torches and lasers, must be handled carefully to avoid injury. Polishing processes such as chemical baths also must be performed in a safe manner. Wear personal protective equipment inside of the design and service center. Free of all personally owned jewelry. This includes metals, gemstones, and rhinestones.
