Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Metrology Engineering Branch (2321) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT. Responsibilities You will Calibrate/Certify/Repair of standards and test equipment, in accordance with Metrology Procedures and Manufacturer Repair Manuals, which cover a wide range of technologies and equipment. You will assist with the engineering assessment of CWI Quality Assurance Program for calibration and repair. You will perform analysis of measurement accuracy over the life span of hardware. You will conduct analysis associated with the Quality Assurance Program in accordance with calibration/repair instructions as well as calibration laboratory certification requirements. You will provide logistical support, configuration management, and conduct spare parts analysis for the customer equipment and calibration laboratory standards. You will maintain equipment recall database and test equipment/standards inventory. You will assist with engineering studies in support of new methods for calibration. You will evaluate design proposals and hardware implementation for advanced system concepts. You will ensure National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceability for electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical measurements and calibration/repair certification is maintained. You will provide technical information/assistance to calibration customers that include Naval Weapons Station Yorktown Torpedo and Missile Maintenance production facilities, Navy Munitions Command Yorktown and Mayport RADIAC. You will provide technical information/assistance to calibration customers that include , Weapons Systems Support Program component repair, and the Naval Weapons Support Center Continuous Wave llluminator Program. You will report all engineering data in detailed form to be included in final engineering reports. You will conduct analysis on instruments to establish a baseline for trending information. These assignments apply to individual, groups or types of instruments. You will maintain calibration/repair history data files for each test set/system. You will evaluate proposed/implemented design changes for both hardware and software. Assist in performing component/subassembly failure analysis. You will develop/conduct testing in support of engineering decisions relating the accuracy of unit measurement to acceptable performance. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, GS-0856-09, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience installing, testing and maintaining complex electronics equipment; Experience analyzing instructions for the repair, modification and maintenance of equipment and related test-set equipment; Experience diagnosing equipment malfunctions through the use of system analysis, test equipment and schematics; Experience analyzing system, equipment or component operations to verify performance is within designated certification parameters.
