Pay: $18.00 to $21.00 Hour

Schedule: Full-Time

We are seeking an exceptional veterinary assistant with previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic! The right candidate must be friendly, outgoing and people oriented. Must be a self-motivated team player who is attentive to detail, effective at oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.

Duties include:

• Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable
• Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care
• Performing cursory exams and prepping animals for aseptic surgery
• Monitoring anesthetic patients
• Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment
• Maintaining accurate medical records
• Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian, and explaining prescription directions
• Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support
• Performing various laboratory tests
• Suggesting dietary products and other services to clients
• Keeping our facilities clean and well-maintained

Requirements:

Requirements: 1+ years of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant

High school diploma

Physical:

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays
• Must frequently lift 40 pounds
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently
• Must be able to work on computer system and work multi-line telephone
• Must be able to handle dogs on leashes
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions

Wanting to become a Dog Groomer, No Problem! Here at Destination Pet, you will have the opportunity to become a Professional Dog Groomer. All that is required is to be employed with Destination Pet full-time or part- time for 6 months. Once that is completed you will contact your General Manager. From there they will enroll you into the program of Paragon school of Pet Grooming free of charge. We encourage on helping you to succeed your dreams in the pet care industry and hope you will join our pack!
