Job Overview
The Athletic Trainer PRN is an as needed position in the Sports Medicine
Center. Team members in this position will work in the outreach setting. In
an outreach setting, the Athletic Trainer I provides daily medical coverage
for trainings, practices and events. As an entry level position, team
members in this position receive direct supervision and guidance from higher
level Athletic Trainers, supervisors and/or providers regarding proper
documentation in medical notes, medical terminology, use of "dot
phrases", relationship building and time management.

Job Status: PRN, As needed based on department needs
Shift: The PRN position is not a full-time position. This athletic training
position will help support our Colorado Springs partnerships in the outreach
setting, focused Pride Soccer. The PRN shifts are primarily weekend and
evening shifts with our outreach partnerships along with Summer
tournaments/event coverage, which includes weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Certification(s): Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of
Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Basic Life Support (BLS)
and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
(DORA) License for Athletic Trainer.
Responsibilities
POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
Neonate - 30 days to 1yr
Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs
Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the
following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the
functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
1. Serves as a liaison between family physicians and/or specialists and the
school district, athletes and their parent . Also, coordinates care
between parents, medical assistants, physicians and/or physician office staff.
2. In a clinical setting, performs orthopedic evaluation of patients and
communicates findings. Under direct supervision, documents and edits
medical notes. Takes medical histories following established standards and
guidelines. Follows providers' standing orders to order appropriate imaging.
3. In an outreach setting, provides daily medical coverage for trainings,
practices, and events following sports medicine standards and best
practices. Including but not limited to providing pre-game and pre-practice
taping and preparation of athletes.
