Job Description

• Perform all duties in accordance with established methods, techniques, and recognized standards
• Assist in the administering of medications to residents
• Follow the Plan of Care for each resident, working with the care team and family members
• Communicate with the Value Based Purchasing Program (VBP) pharmacy to obtain accurate doses as per the resident’s MAR
• Assist residents with self-administration of medications
• Maintain medication records in accordance with Federal, State and facility requirements
• Report any discrepancies noted concerning physician’s orders, medications, and treatment to the Charge Nurse
• Follow established policies and procedures as applicable to the position
• Submit and receive orders through telephone/fax of prescribed medications, refill orders, blister packed orders, and treatments
• Use supplies in an efficient and cost-effective manner
• Initiate action to amend the plan of care as needed and report changes in condition to the Charge Nurse

The Certified Medication Aide will also participate in care plan & assignment meeting, providing input to the staff within the shift, and report and address issues that are needing attention.
