Preservation Imaging Specialist

The Preservation Imaging Specialist exists to assist the Church History Department in its purpose to help God’s children make and keep sacred covenants. The incumbent assists the manager in leading a team of Digital Imaging Technicians that perform digital imaging services of collection materials for research, archival, exhibition, publication, online access, and preservation including photography and post-production. This is an individual contributor position.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the digitization of materials through approved processes that include digital camera and scanner systems, and various software.
  • Specialist will participate in frequent rotations of work equipment to maintain an understanding of the equipment and to aid in the completion of work scheduled.
  • Specialists have the responsibility to follow preservation standards while appropriately handling various material types and utilizing the equipment and programs to digitize records while meeting or exceeding daily production and quality expectations.
  • Specialists will be expected to perform quality work in a timely manner.
  • Supports digitization initiatives, executes production-level digital capture using a variety of hardware, software, and methodologies through routine and repetitive tasks.
  • Performs post-processing of image files to specification, organizes completed files in appropriate directories.
  • Stays current regarding emerging trends, equipment, and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience leading people and/or digitization/photography related work
  • 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Having a working understanding of photographic principles of exposure, ISO, white balance, focus, contrast, aperture, shutter speed and histogram preferred.
  • Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Photoshop a plus.
  • Highly proficient using a computer
  • Ability to work under lighting conditions that are most conducive for digital capture.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet daily productivity goals
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background check
