Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Care Caregiver to join our team. In this role, you will provide private duty nonmedical home care to residents in our independent living apartments. You will be responsible for assisting with activities of daily living, medication reminders, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and providing companionship. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in caregiving and a high level of empathy and compassion.


Job Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as assigned on the Plan of Care in the client’s home
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and oral hygiene
  • Provide medication reminders
  • Assist with ambulation
  • Prepare meals
  • Create a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients
  • Provide light housekeeping, including laundry and changing of bed linens
  • Assist with meeting clients' nutritional needs through meal preparation, grocery shopping, dishes, and kitchen clean-up
  • Remind clients to take self-administered medications
  • Observe and report any changes in client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition to the Director or immediate supervisor
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and professional relationships with clients, family members, and coworkers
  • Participate in monthly in-service/staff meetings and annual continuing education programs
  • Complete required documentation of services delivered in client’s Care Binder
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client information
  • Provide companionship, including talking and listening, reading aloud, and providing social and emotional support
  • Promote clients' mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
  • Assist with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) such as telephone calls, letter writing, and accompanying clients on walks or community trips
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Essential Physical and Sensory Requirements

The following physical and sensory requirements are necessary for this position:

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods throughout the working day
  • Must be able to maintain balance, kneel, crouch, grasp, bend, pull, and reach for extended periods throughout the working day
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions for extended periods throughout the working day
  • Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 50 pounds

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a related field is preferred

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with weekend availability required.
