Job Summary/Basic
Function:
Under the supervision of an Assistant Director of Housing and Residence
Life, the Coordinator of Residential Engagement (CRE) is responsible for
the oversight and advisement of the Residential Housing Association
(RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) student leadership
organizations; as well as providing support to Resident Directors (RDs)
in their efforts to advise hall councils in their communities.The CRE
also coordinates the success of our Community Development Model, is
responsible for representing Housing during summer orientations, and
serves as a member of the Resident Director On-Call (RDOC) crisis
response rotation.

Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is a department that houses approximately
3000 students and staff in 10 campus living communities, including
traditional, suite and apartment communities. Housing & Residence Life
is a space that seeks to welcome and affirm diverse students and

serve our local communities, rural Idaho, and first-generation student

Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to
contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use
professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and
complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day
objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially
routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This
level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical
knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
60% of the time this position will:
Leadership Development & Program Development:
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence
Life to sustain and adapt a community development experience for
residential students.
Assist the Residential Housing Association (RHA) and National
Residence Hall Honorary\'s (NRHH) programming efforts to be in
conjunction and alignment with the Department of Housing and
Residence Life\'s vision, mission, and values.
Maintain excellent and current records of program goals, learning
outcomes, assessments, and attendance to share with internal and
external constituents and serve as a liaison for the department for
university events.
Develop and coordinate ongoing student staff appreciation
initiatives to maintain team morale.
Support the Assistant Directors for Residence Life in the
development of returning student staff to elevate their leadership
experience.
Support professional staff in advising Hall Councils, including
encouraging students to become involved within the residential
community, RHA, NRH , student clubs and organizations, Boise State
departments, and/or community agencies
Administrative Functions:
Ensure the infusion of the Curricular Approach to the student
experience.
Employs a student-focused approach to design training and
development initiatives.
Collaborate with campus partners as necessary.
Maintain records and documentation for events, training, assessment
efforts, annual processes, etc.
Cultivate effective and mutually supportive working relationships
with members of the campus community.
Resolve conflicts and encourage communication among staff, student
leaders, and residents.
Oversee budget allocation and ensure compliance with HRL,
University, and State policies.
Respond to daily requests for information and assistance from
Housing and Residence Life staff, residents, and campus partners.
35% of the time the position must:
Advising RHA and NRHH:
Advise the RHA and NRHH executive boards. This inlcudesselecting,
training, recognizing, supporting, and assessing/evaluating executive
board and General Assembly members, as applicable.
Serve as a liaison between the RHA students, Housing and Residence Life
and other institutional and external entities; involving RHA and NRHH in
discussions and decisions within Housing and Residence Life and/or Boise
State University, as appropriate.
