SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND ACQUISITION (FEAD) of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. Responsibilities You will Enforce technical and administrative provisions related to the management of assigned construction contracts. You will inspect construction work on site to ensure work is done in accordance with contract documents. You will lead other technicians in their work assignments. You will explain safety laws, regulations, policies and procedures to others to promote safety requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing construction reviews of plans and specifications for technical soundness and practicability; 2) Utilizing construction project scheduling knowledge and expertise to track progress of projects; 3) Preparing technical analysis, cost estimates, and reviews engineering designs for proposed changes; and 4) Ensuring contractors' compliance with safety and environmental requirements. However, field inspections are made which may require protective clothing. Protective clothing worn in field inspections includes hard hats, reflective vest, hard-toed boots, safety glasses, and ear protection. Other protective wear such as safety harnesses, coveralls, and gloves may be required for certain situations. The incumbent may be assigned to work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. To ensure employee safety and health, NAVFAC maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include protective equipment (i.e. ear protection or respirator), adherence to related regulations and medical surveillance. As part of medical surveillance program, the incumbent may be required to take medical examinations to assess qualifications for duty involving these agents.
