Glen At Willow Valley is hiring a Recreation Therapy Manager to assess, plan, and implement individual and group activities of a recreational, diversional, and therapeutic nature. The Recreation Therapy Manager will provide recruitment, training, and assignments of volunteers in strategic parts of the program.

Wage: From $24.00/hr + based on experience


Responsibilities:

  • Models exemplary customer service and the MORE values towards Team Members and Residents.
  • Creates a positive, encouraging, and educational environment for Team Members.
  • Ensures consistency among Supportive Living Communities in Recreational Therapy operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for carrying out programs of recreational activities that will provide person-centered, individualized life enrichment, entertainment, communication, exercise, relaxation, and opportunity to express creative talent. The programs will provide basic psychological, as well as social and spiritual support to participating Residents. Drives Residents on outings.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of all Recreational Assistants.
  • Operates and maintains program equipment as necessary: vehicles, video, DVD projector/TV/computer, etc.
  • Visits non-ambulatory Residents or Residents prone to isolation on a regular basis, assess new Residents within 48 hours.
  • Maintains required records of Resident attendance at activities daily.
  • Evaluates Resident's reactions during activities and reports unusual observations to appropriate Team Members.
  • Provides training and supervision of volunteers in activities.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies needed for programs.
  • Manages Recreation budget.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule by being available to work evenings and/or weekends as activities require. Is creative in coming up with new ways to do things and new programs.
  • Plans, creates, and distributes a monthly calendar of events, assuring availability to Residents.
  • Documents the assessment of Resident needs and preferences and completes necessary regulatory documentation on a timely basis. Ensures that Resident assessment is utilized in creating programs (i.e., Resident’s hobbies, career, knowledge of various subjects, etc).
  • Becomes knowledgeable on various individual programs for dementia Residents and implements them.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service/educational programs.
  • Utilizes volunteers to assist as needed with appropriate activities.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following qualification criteria:

  • Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is a PA licensed or registered and is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after 10/1/90.
  • May also have 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years (one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program)
  • Or is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant
  • Or has completed a training course approved by the State.

Hours: 40 hrs/week

Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm
