Chauffeur/Driver

Summary:

Will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of Residents to various locations outside the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transports residents to and from any valley address or establishment, as requested by the resident paying for the service.
• Assists passengers each time they embark or disembark the vehicle.
• Observes speed limits and all traffic signs and signals while on duty.
• Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities as directed by department head or supervisor, or as is necessary to perform this job.
• Performs routine cleaning of any vehicle used and assures that the vehicle is always safe and appropriate for travel.
• Accomplishes all work in order of resident priority and established schedules.
• May be requested to assist the bus drivers in setting doctors' appointments for the residents, as well as any other office duties as needed.
• May be requested to assist the on-campus tram drivers when available.
• Reports any malfunctions or required repairs to immediate supervisor. Responsible for assisting with the delivery and return of vehicles in a timely manner when repairs are scheduled.

Education and/or Experience:

Must have a good driving record and a good knowledge of the valley streets and highways.

Moderate physical effort involving lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must be capable of sitting for long periods of time.

Flow of work and types of duties require flexibility and normal mental and visual demand much of the time and constant attention to driving at all times.

May be exposed to the elements of weather (heat, cold, rain, dust, noise, fumes).

Must be able to maintain composure, even in heavy traffic.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement within 45 days of hire.

Language Skills:

Effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
