Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Technician

Must have the ability to diagnose and repair defects in equipment including but not limited to: excavators, loaders, scrapers, tractors, trucks and small equipment such as water pumps, generators, and saws. They also need to be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Demonstrating continuous effort to decrease repair cost and turnaround times, to increase equipment production and company profit. They observe and/or monitor equipment and components to determine compliance with prescribed operating and safety standards. The heavy equipment mechanic must also have skills in the use and care of hand and power tools employed in all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance, and repair work. To include incidental welding operations on equipment. The mechanics responsibilities include completing forms to record or report information in a standardized format. Job Requirements Must be able to read and understand repair manuals and schematics Should have working knowledge of the following: Diesel Engines Hydraulics Transmission, differentials, and final drives Electrical/Electronic systems Pneumatics Metal fabrication, cutting, welding, and brazing Maintain a valid class A drivers license Pass a pre-employment, and random drug screenings The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees in this position.
