Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Laundry
Germantown Home is currently looking for a Supervisor of Housekeeping & Laundry to join our dynamic team! The Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Laundry will provide daily supervision to employees responsible for cleanliness of resident rooms, items, and common areas services according to the nursing home's philosophy and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations. This individual will also provide housekeeping and laundry services to create a safe, sanitary, comfortable, and homelike environment for residents, staff, and the public.
In the absence of the department director, the Assistant Director of Housekeeping and Laundry assumes administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that established routine cleaning schedules for resident rooms and common areas of the facility are assigned and followed.
- Develop schedules for special projects and large jobs such as walls, windows, etc.
- Give daily assignments to housekeeping staff and monitor their performance.
- Assist with the ordering of supplies and equipment and maintain processes for tracking inventory.
- Follow all safety information and procedures when using chemical compounds.
- Monitor staff and provide guidance on established procedures for handling, storing, processing, and transporting linens.
- Maintain linen inventories at levels consistent with facility needs.
- Inspect linen inventory and dispose of worn, stained, or torn linens and bedding.
- Dispose of trash and waste, including bio-hazardous waste, in compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Monitor workplace for safety and fire hazards.
- Report maintenance and equipment problems promptly to the Director of Maintenance.
- Store supplies and equipment in proper places when not in use.
- Cooperate with other departments to accommodate individual resident needs and preferences.
- Assist with quality assurance functions, including compliance rounds, on a daily basis.
- Complete required documentation and record-keeping of housekeeping and laundry activities.
- Collaborate with consultants to improve the quality of housekeeping and laundry services.
- Develop a staffing plan that ensures sufficient numbers of Housekeeping and Laundry personnel.
- Participate in the hiring process and onboarding and training procedures for new staff.
- Participate in long-term care survey process and maintain a presence during surveys.
- Maintain current skills and knowledge through continuing education.
- Participate in fire and disaster drills and carry out assigned duties in emergencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least five years of experience in institutional housekeeping or laundry department.
- One or more years of supervisory or management responsibilities.

Estimated Salary
$20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications
