Security Engineer

Description: Our team is seeking a Security Engineer with web application security skills. This position will consist of working with the team to design and implement information security solutions, implement defensive technologies, and monitoring solutions, assist in daily maintenance and problem resolution, modify and update the security configuration for firewalls, IDS, Log Servers, and all related information and security devices, and help with review, audit, and support all information security systems. Top Skills Web application security / web application firewalls - experience managing OWASP Top 10 Security infrastructure support - firewall policy management General network support - mainly Cisco equipment • Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive technical expertise in the Security domain. • Hands on experience with: o Firewall management (Check Point preferred but not required) o Web Application Firewalls (WAF). o Web application security (for example OWASP top 10) o Troubleshooting skills using various tools (command line, packet capturing, etc.) o Scripting languages such as python/shell scripts • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of networking architectures • Excellent customer service and communication skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Skills: Security, Information security, Firewall, Aws, Network security, Vulnerability Additional Skills & Qualifications: Given the direction of some of the technologies they use, there should be a level of proficiency with a scripting language. This team is not a team of heavy developers, but working capabilities with Python and/or other scripting languages would make a much stronger candidate. The tooling they support is rapidly evolving to operate with scripted integration – especially when cloud-based technologies are in play. Other Desired Skills Include: • Hands on experience with: • IDS/IPS Sensors • Incident Response and analysis • FISMA Compliance support • Continuous Security Monitoring • Securing both wired and wireless networks • Performance/flow monitoring statistics • DNS • Proxy servers • DLP • Zero Trust • Experience with AWS Security is a plus (EC2, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudFormation/Terraform, Lambda, etc) • Security+, CISSP, GIAC, CCNA/CCNP, ITIL/PMP/PMI, AWS Security Specialty certification is a plus • Experience managing CrowdStrike products and services • Vulnerability management using tools such as Nessus • Penetration testing • Knowledge of various Operating Systems (for example linux, windows, mac OS) • Experience supporting a highly technical and/or research-based environment Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
