Summary This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Operational Logistics Command, Base New Orleans, Naval Engineering Department, New Orleans, LA. Responsibilities The position will serve as a journeyman-level electrician, and requires knowledge and application of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Installing, modifying, repairing, loading and testing system, circuits, equipment and control in support of other building trades. Interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code, local code, building plan, blueprints, wiring diagram, and engineering drawing. Determining the location of existing electrical devices and service entrances and places no one. Installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associative fixtures, controls and equipment. Maintaining an adequate stockpile of part and consumables used in the operation and maintenance of the system. Working with and impart knowledge to engineers of the watch and junior personnel who may be less skilled or experience in these skills and who may need to learn to complete these tasks themselves. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position. The position requires a valid state driver's license.
