Security & Safety Officer | Rice Memorial Hospital | Part-time Evenings

CentraCare, a leading healthcare organization in Willmar, MN, is currently hiring for the position of Security & Safety Officer at Rice Memorial Hospital. This is a part-time evening role, working 40 hours every 2 weeks from 4pm to 12am, every other weekend. The starting pay for this position is $19.70/hr, and it may vary based on previous experience.

Job Description

As a Security & Safety Officer, your main responsibility will be to monitor and protect hospital patients, employees, guests, and property. You will be instrumental in preserving the peace, preventing crime, and detecting and detaining violators of the law. Key tasks include:

• Responding to hospital emergency codes
• Performing frequent patrols of lots and clinics in a patrol squad
• Routine rounding on aggressive flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention
• Writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
• Serving as a liaison to orient responding law enforcement agencies

You will have the opportunity to work closely with Willmar's First Responders and gain hands-on experience and make valuable connections. Previous security experience is preferred, but training and certifications will be provided by the department. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with the ability to deal effectively with individuals/groups in a healthcare setting. A valid Minnesota driver's license and a driving record in good standing are also required.

Qualifications

• Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and deal effectively with individuals/groups in a healthcare setting
• Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR within 3 months of hire
• Valid Minnesota driver's license and a driving record in good standing
• Certification in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, NCI and X26 taser within 6 months of hire
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required
