Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties:
The counselor is a full-time, 10-month role within the NMU Counseling and Consultation Services Center (CCS). The candidate will be housed in the Wellbeing Center and embedded with the Athletic Department to provide specialized support. The role involves delivering comprehensive counseling to NMU students with partial provision of services dedicated to student athletes.
Responsibilities are those of a professional university counseling center clinician and include individual and group therapy, assessment, outreach programming and consultation using a brief therapy model.
This is a campus- based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
Master's Degree
Discipline / Degree Area:
Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work or Professional Counseling
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
Licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Michigan or must obtain Michigan Licensure within three months of hire date.
Required Minimum Work Experience:
A minimum of three years licensed clinical experience. Experience in conducting short-term psychotherapy with a diverse population including co-occurring assessments, consultations, group therapy, outreach/prevention services, and writing timely psychological notes and reports.
