Description
WVU Libraries is seeking a Student Success and Instruction Librarian to join its new Student Success and Instruction (SSI) unit, which advances the library's portfolio of instructional activities in support of the University's commitment to student success. The Student Success and Instruction Librarian will teach credit-bearing courses, lead noncredit-bearing instruction sessions, design assignments to enhance students' information literacy and research skills, support faculty through the recommendation of appropriate open education resources, and participate in co-curricular initiatives to promote student success.
Major Responsibilities
Deliver course-related, course-integrated, and credit-bearing information literacy instruction both in person and online to enhance students' research skills and critical thinking abilities.
Teach ULIB101, Introduction to Library Research or other ULIB courses as agreed upon in the annual assignment document.
Conduct noncredit-bearing information literacy sessions for undergraduate and graduate courses.
Collaborate in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of WVU Libraries' instructional content, learning materials, and objects to integrate information literacy in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
Actively engage in selective campus and/ or community outreach and engagement programming and events focused on enhancing academic preparedness and fostering student retention.
Deliver general reference assistance through on-call and chat service as needed.
Serve as the subject matter expert in the Humanities domain, offering instruction and reference services to students and faculty in need of subject-specific support.
Conduct library workshops on topics, information resources, and skills relevant to Humanities researchers.
Provide guidance and expertise in the Humanities domain to the SSI Team.
Monitor trends in scholarly publishing in relevant areas to inform the design and delivery of library services and functions specific to SSI's service portfolio.
Serve and actively contribute to relevant committees, task forces, and working groups at the Library, University, regional, and/ or national level.
Engage in professional development / research related to the individual's assignment and/or the needs of the Libraries and the University.

We welcome beginning or early career librarians and anticipate filling this position at the rank of Assistant University Librarian or Associate University Librarian. Rank and salary are dependent upon experience and credentials.
Salary range commensurate with experience and faculty rank, salary starts at $61,000. Faculty rank is determined by the WVU Library Criteria for Library Faculty Appointment, Retention, Promotion, and Merit. This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant or Associate University Librarian level, however, rank is determined by years served in a professional librarian capacity.
