Injury Prevention Specialist (IPS)

Position Description: The Injury Prevention Specialist (IPS) analyzes tasks for potential ergonomic and safety issues, performs biomechanical and ergonomic assessments, provides first aid care to injured employees, and executes other injury prevention activities. IPSs will proactively observe ergonomic practices and educate to improve technique prior to the onset of soreness or injury. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides triage, first aid and/ or referral to outside medical provider, if indicated Maintains records of first aid care provided to associates Minimizes the risk of injury of employees through awareness, education and intervention Attends and participates in meetings to lead daily stretching routines Understands, learns and communicates the proper techniques on how to prevent soft tissue injuries Evaluates trends in soft tissue injuries and develop action items to address injury trends Provides daily activity logs to the safety team and senior leadership team Provides analysis of all onsite incidents on a monthly basis including recommendations on how to reduce the risk and severity of injuries Provides accommodation recommendations related to job placement for all employees on restrictions given by a medical provider Understands and learns each department/ job functions to fully understand the body mechanics involved in every task. Be actively involved with improvements to the standard work process Provides coaching on observed at-risk work habits Performs other duties as assigned/necessary Minimum Requirements: Certification as applicable per client requirements Bachelor’s Degree preferred CPR certification required TB / Chest X-ray results Experience in an occupational setting Certified to Teach First Aid, CPR, AED training preferred Experience with an industrial wellness program preferred Experience working with Worker’s Compensation preferred Management / training experience preferred Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer, by either the Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent State Certification Must have a valid card evidencing successful completion of a First Aid, CPR, and AED course from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
