Pastor/Chaplain (Part Time)

Job Summary:

Elm Terrace Gardens is seeking a Part-time Pastor/Chaplain to provide direct spiritual nurturing and guidance to our community and its several constituencies. This position offers the opportunity to impact the lives of our dear residents by serving our seniors in our continuing care retirement community. Studying the Word of God, preaching/teaching, and ministering to our residents in everyday life trials are important aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited seminary program and have at least two years of experience, preferably in a healthcare facility.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Conduct the Protestant religious services of the community including Sunday morning worship and a midweek service.

2. Coordinate Roman Catholic and Hebrew religious services conducted at Elm Terrace Gardens.

3. Supervise any Chaplain Interns when applicable.

4. Provide counseling to residents, staff, and other Elm Terrace Gardens constituencies.

5. Visit Elm Terrace Gardens residents in their apartments, Personal Care Suites, and Nursing Facility rooms.

6. Conduct special programs from time to time as determined by Elm Terrace Gardens.

7. Report activity statistics quarterly to the President.

8. Present a warm and friendly image in a courteous and friendly manner at all times.

9. Recommend equipment and supply needs to the President.

10. Generally try to be helpful to all.

11. Promote the concept of holistic care by enhancing teamwork.

12. Maintain confidentiality of information.

13. Respond to emergency alarms as necessary.

14. Conduct Memorial Services and funerals on request.

15. Present a positive endorsement of Elm Terrace Gardens, its mission, programs, policies, procedures, and administration.

16. Report to work as scheduled.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

18. Assist with resident transport to and from activities.

Requirements:

1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, completed an accredited seminary program, and have at least two years of experience, preferably in a healthcare facility.

2. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3. Must possess knowledge of community resources and needs, handle confidential information, possess judgment capabilities, and conduct tours of the facility.

4. Must have the ability to work well with people including staff, residents, families, and the community.

5. Must demonstrate an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.

6. Must be ordained and in good standing with his/her faith community.

7. Must demonstrate inter-denominational flexibility.

8. Must possess experience working with older adults.

Physical Requirements:

1. Service ability to be mobile (walking, standing, sitting, etc.).

2. Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, families, and teammates.

3. Must be able to read and speak English in simple, understandable terms.

4. Must be physically able to fulfill spiritual care duties.

5. Able to engage in a good working relationship with all departments.

Pay:

$31.00 - $33.00 per hour
