Description The Department of Human Performance/Exercise Physiology Division at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Research Assistant. About the Opportunity Conducted rodent behavior assessments, animal breeding and genotyping, experience with conducting histology, molecular procedures (Western blot, rtPCR, cutting, staining and analyses, etc) and isolated vessel wire and pressure myography are preferred. Wellness programs What You'll Do Execute rodent behavior studies Perform tissue/organ harvest and processing when rodents are euthanized. Perform isolated vessel wire and pressure myography Conduct histology procedures on tissue sections obtained from harvest (cutting, staining and analyses) Maintain laboratory safety records, files and procedures. Pay Grade: 15 Qualifications Bachelor Degree in biology, physiology, or related field. A minimum of 0-6 months experience Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to meet deadlines, as well as prepare, present and report results effectively. Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of co-investigators from diverse disciplines, orientations, and organizations Experience in conducting animal behavior studies. Experience in conducting molecular studies. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with animal behavior testing. Experience in conducting molecular studies.
