Job Description
We are currently seeking a Medical Records Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing patient medical records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Organizing and filing patient records in accordance with established procedures
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient medical files
- Scanning and indexing new records into the electronic health record system
- Retrieving and delivering medical records as necessary for patient care
- Reviewing records for accuracy and completeness, making corrections as needed
- Assisting healthcare providers and staff in locating patient records
- Responding to requests for medical records from authorized individuals or organizations
- Maintaining the strict confidentiality of patient health information
- Adhering to all regulatory and legal requirements regarding the handling of medical records
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in medical records or a related field is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical coding systems
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting
