GNC Engineer

Description: You will develop, refine and deploy perception, motion planning, localization, mapping, SLAM, and/or calibration algorithms and integrate these onto robotics platforms ranging from small drones to full size helicopters for aerial mobility and inspection applications. Senior engineers provide technical leadership to guide projects through the complete lifecycle from conception through production, whether through leading teams or through subject matter expertise. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field 7+ years’ industry experience in robotics or autonomous flight domains Expertise or specialization in controls, motion planning, guidance and localization Working knowledge of aircraft systems, suitable for easily integrating new software and diagnosing problems Experience developing simulation models for helicopters or large autonomous drones Experience with designing, developing, testing and verifying flight algorithms for GNC subsystems Strong software background including experience with C, C++, Python and/or Fortran Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, classical/modern control, and estimation theory Familiarity with software engineering practices and software development life cycle Additional Skills & Qualifications: Masters or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience with ROS or ROS2 Experience with field testing of robotic systems Experience with uncrewed aircraft, or aviation more broadly Experience designing modular, testable, and extensible C++ APIs Experience leading teams and/or mentoring engineers Proven ability to lead technical development on a project within schedule and budget constraints Familiarity with development in a Linux environment About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
