UPMC Western Maryland is searching for a casual Chaplain to support the spiritual needs of our patients and their families! This position will mostly cover weekend, night, and on-call hours.
Responsibilities:
Supports the spiritual care to patients by:
Completing visitation assignments and communicating the services available through the pastoral care department, Screening patients', families', and staff's needs.
Coordinating with chaplains if a patient/family/staff wish to meet with the chaplains.
Shares on-call responsibilities as needed.
Collaborates in planning various liturgical programs with the department leadership and chaplains.
Coordinates contacting patients' clergy if requested.
Document visits to patients.
Completes annual goals with the director, meeting with them regularly to discuss progress on goals and objectives.
Meets continuing education goals/preferences as outlined by the department.Assists the department leader and chaplains with various administrative tasks.
Bachelors Degree Required.
Major in Pastoral Ministry, Divinity, Theology, or related field.
Completion of a minimum of 1 unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) within 1-2 years preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of hospital/healthcare-related experience preferred.
Personal and Professional Requirements:
Endorsement from a recognized ecclesial body (church)
Ability to minister to patients with various physical and emotional disabilities
Ability and desire to work within the context of team approach to ministry
Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software
