Description of Work

This is advanced professional social work providing a full range of services for the Social Services Department at the DVVH. Specific duties include serving as facility coordinator for behavioral and psychosocial intervention services and assessing, designing, and implementing appropriate behavioral and psychosocial interventions for residents in need of this service. You also offer consultation and education to other disciplines in developing behavioral management programs. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.
Work hours are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.

Necessary Special Requirements:
All employees in the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs require an active license as a Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
