Job Description

Franklin Square Elementary Middle School in Baltimore, MD is seeking a dedicated Third Grade Teacher to plan and implement an instructional program for students in third grade. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing student behavior, assessing and evaluating student achievement, and modifying instructional activities as required. This role also involves carrying out a variety of student monitoring and support activities.

Essential Functions

Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
Plans and implements appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities.
Develops, adopts, modifies, and individualizes educational materials and resources to meet the needs of students.
Manages student behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.
Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff.
Utilizes instructional materials, multimedia, and computer technology to enhance learning.
Participates in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings.
Continually assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate documentation for reporting purposes.
Ensures continuous communication with parents or guardians to keep them informed of student progress.
Provides age-appropriate communication with students on instructional expectations.
Assigns work to and oversees paraprofessionals and parent and student volunteers, if applicable.
Maintains a healthful, safe, and conducive instructional environment.
Supports or participates in school-wide student activities and social events.
Monitors student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior.
Collaborates with other professionals to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities.
May sponsor or coordinate extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
Performs all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
