Job Description Position Title: Student Intern - IT (ETRM) (Summer 2025) OPEN UNTIL FILLED Department/Location: Information Technology/Bismarck, ND Company: Basin Electric Power Cooperative Position Purpose: This temporary position assists the ETRM team with supporting, maintenance, and optimization of the Energy Trading and Risk Management systems across various functional areas such as Finance, Market Operations, Resource Planning & Rates, Transmission, etc. This position will analyze business processes, write code, configuring server architecture, basic project plan, providing user support, and work on robotic process automation. They will collaborate with IT professionals and business users to enhance the system’s functionality and alignment with organizational goals. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems. Essential Functions: Assist in analyzing and understanding business requirements related to Energy Trading and Risk Management Participate in system integration testing, unit testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate changes and enhancements. Collaborate with business users and IT teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve system errors. Help maintain documentation related to functional configurations, process flows, and user guides. Assist with the preparation of training materials and provide support to end-users during the roll-out of new functionalities or modules. Conduct basic data analysis Participate in meetings and workshops with business stakeholders to gather insights and provide feedback on system enhancements. Qualifications : Enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline with at least one year completed; Or Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline with at least two years completed; Or Recently completed a two-year or four-year program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. At least 18 years of age. A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) is preferred. Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word and Outlook. A valid driver’s license. Resume required. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position uses small hand tools. This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
