Job Description: Job Title: Director of CSD Center of Innovation Department: Office of the Superintendent Supervisor: Superintendent Lane Placement: Administrative Lane 6 Schedule: 8 hrs / 242 days Evaluation Group: CLASS-D FLSA Classification: Exempt JOB DESCRIPTION The Director of Canyons School District Center for Innovation is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and implementation of innovative initiatives that align with the Board’s mission and strategic plan. This includes, but is not limited to, assuming responsibility for all day-to-day operations and functions, outreach, fundraising, hiring and supervising faculty and staff, implementing the alignment of instructional programs within District guidelines, fostering learning and professional development and ensuring compliance in all aspects of the Center’s functions with federal, state, local, and District regulations. This role requires a visionary leader with a proven track record of fostering creativity and collaboration across diverse teams. The Director will drive research, partnerships, and programs that enhance organizational capabilities, improve services, and contribute to the overall advancement of the field. This position supports and assists school level administrators to ensure Canyons School District students are ready to meet the challenges in a competitive global economy by setting high standards with appropriate scaffolding so that all students are ready for careers and college.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, stewardship of the Center’s resources, and all other aspects of leadership.
Develop key strategic initiatives and provide for long-term sustainable growth of the Center that will lead to a world-class, flexible, responsive, customer-friendly program.
Develop and implement visionary programs and events to support and promote innovation and entrepreneurship at the Center and the mission of the District.
Promote the Center both internally and externally to make it a focal point of innovation programming on a national level.
Develop and grow relationships with outside constituencies who will support innovation and entrepreneurship at the Center as well as overarching initiatives and programs.
Effectively markets the Center to ensure high enrollment and substantial use of the facilities.
Pursue fundraising via use of the Center to ensure robust revenue streams.
Establish Early College pathways with higher education institutions.
Responsible for creating unique experiences for visitors to the Center and staying ahead of and anticipating their needs.
Support faculty member’s efforts to integrate instructional strategies, and multiple technologies that promote cooperative and project-based learning though an interdisciplinary STEAM curriculum.
Create effective outreach with the community for the use of the Center for use during hours outside the realm of the school day in order to create revenue streams. This could include the creation of competitions, use of visiting professors and teachers, creating conference opportunities, developing a professional development institute, creating leadership programming and training, etc.
Demonstrate and maintain the promotion of the vision and mission of both the District and the Center to elevate the academic development and well-being of all students, collaborate with Businesses, District and school leaders to ensure alignment with District initiatives, Utah State Board of Education Rules, and current educational policies.
Manage the operation of all Center activities and functions and maintain systems that promote productivity, student learning, student success and school security.
Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Center for Innovation that aligns with organizational objectives. Identify trends, emerging technologies, and best practices that can enhance innovation initiatives.
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, academic institutions, government agencies, and community organizations to foster collaboration and maximize the impact of innovation initiatives.
Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Encourage a culture of innovation and creative problem-solving while promoting professional development and growth.
Develop and manage the Center’s budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships.
Act as a spokesperson for the Center, promoting its initiatives and achievements through presentations, publications, and social media.
Implement metrics and evaluation processes to measure the success and impact of innovation initiatives. Use data to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
Develop metrics and evaluation processes to measure the success, impact and effectiveness of innovation programs; while reporting findings to the Superintendent and the Board of Education. Use data to inform strategic data-driven decision-making for continuous improvement.
Embraces and provides for meaningful parent involvement at the Center by adhering to all laws and District directives regarding the School Community Council, establishing positive relationships with the Center PTA, and meeting with parents individually or collectively as needed to address concerns.
In collaboration with the District and the School Community Council, seek and obtain external funding through grants, business partnerships, and other appropriate sources to strengthen programs and activities for students.
Provides leadership in collaboration with parents and cities to ensure students’ safe passage to school, a safe environment at school, and a safe climate at all school-sponsored activities.
Successfully manages budgets and allocates resources to provide fiscal accountability for all aspects of the Center’s operation including reaching Center goals.
Works closely with the school board, superintendent, community, architects, and cities to address current and future facility’s needs.
Works closely with the District’s Office of Public Communications and Department of Information Technology to establish, manage, and promote the school’s Web site, Twitter account, and Facebook page.
Establishes and enforces an environment where all students, parents, and employees are welcomed and free from discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability, pregnancy, and sexual orientation.
Demonstrates predictable and reliable attendance.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
A minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Education, Educational Leadership, Engineering, Marketing, Science, Technology, or Innovation Management).
A valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah with a “License Area of Concentration” of “Administrative/Supervisory (K-12)”.
Minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience or educational background preferred in either the sciences, engineering, technology and/or the arts with a strong personal interest and exposure to all three areas, and the desire and will to integrate across various disciplines.
Experience with CTE and CAPPS.
5-10 years business experience including at least 2 years of management experience or project management experience preferred.
Proven track record of successfully leading innovative projects from conception to implementation, resulting in measurable outcomes.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and empower teams.
Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
Is flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment, and skilled at directing tasks and assignments with well-educated, opinionated and outgoing personalities.
Must have outstanding organization and initiative, and a professional, courteous demeanor suitable for working at the executive level.
Must have advance written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels.
Must possess high degree of patience, dignity, and sensitivity. Attention to detail is imperative.
Excellent computer skills with word processing applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to supervise and lead employees effectively.
Requires a valid driver’s license.
