Job Description
South Salt Lake City Hall is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Works Director to join our team. This position provides strategic leadership in the management and operation of the city's Public Works Department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful project management, infrastructure planning, and operations oversight. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, as well as the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures that align with the city's goals and objectives.
- Directs and oversees the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects
- Manages the maintenance of city streets, traffic signals, and sanitation services
- Supervises departmental staff and fosters a positive and productive work environment
- Develops and administers the department's budget and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public works management. Professional engineering licensure and/or certification as a Public Works Professional are preferred. The applicant must demonstrate strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to promoting a safe and sustainable community environment.
