Job Description


Rutland Nursing Home is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapist, Recreational to join our team. As a Therapist, Recreational, you will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents. This is a full-time position based in Brooklyn, NY.


Responsibilities


As a Therapist, Recreational at Rutland Nursing Home, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing engaging recreational programs for residents based on their individual needs and preferences
  • Organizing and coordinating various recreational activities and events, such as arts and crafts, games, outings, and exercise programs
  • Assessing residents' interests, abilities, and limitations to ensure the activities are suitable and enjoyable
  • Encouraging residents to participate in recreational activities, promoting social interaction and overall well-being
  • Providing one-on-one support and assistance to residents who require additional help or accommodation
  • Documenting residents' participation and progress in recreational activities
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of residents during recreational activities

Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field
  • Previous experience working with elderly individuals or in a healthcare setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to create and facilitate engaging recreational programs
  • Understanding of the physical and emotional needs of elderly individuals
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
