Laundry Aide - PruittHealth
Job Description:
PruittHealth is seeking a Laundry Aide to join our team in Decatur, GA. As a Laundry Aide, you will be responsible for tending laundering machines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles of patients. You will load articles in the washer, add the specified amount of detergent or cleaning agents, and then lift clean, wet articles to place them in a wringer and dryer for measured time cycles. Additionally, you will be responsible for folding and sorting laundry, hanging clothes on racks, delivering patient/resident's laundry, following proper cleaning and safety procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fold and sort laundry items such as blankets, sheets, and towels
- Hang clothes on racks according to name and numbers
- Deliver patient/resident's laundry to designated areas
- Ensure that clothes are in good condition and put in the proper place
- Understand the functions of various soaps and bleaches
- Follow precautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used
- Wash and dry clothes and linens
- Keep equipment clean and follow cleaning schedules
- Maintain a clean and organized area; sweep and mop laundry area
- Report any needed repairs to the maintenance department
- Operate large filters according to established schedules
- Ensure proper handling of soiled laundry items
- Clean and disinfect linen carts as required per policy and procedure
- Empty washers and dryers as requested/necessary
- Operate water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves
- Understand the proper process for stain removal
Minimum Education Required:
High School Degree preferred.
Minimum Experience Required:
On-the-job training provided.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in healthcare laundering processes
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required by date of hire
