SUBSTITUTIONS: Training in the carpentry trade will substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis. Job Concepts Function of Work: To perform carpentry construction, repairing, and remodeling in accordance with the standard practices of the trade. Level of Work: Experienced. Supervision Received: General from a Carpenter Foreman or Carpenter Master. Supervision Exercised: None. Location of Work: May be used by all state agencies; statewide. Job Distinctions: Differs from the Apprentice jobs by its performance of journeyman level work and from the Carpenter Master and Foreman jobs by its lack of required supervisory duties. Examples of Work Performs general carpentry work involved with the repair, alteration, or maintenance of buildings and all related structures. Builds or repairs shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture, concrete forms, trim, ceilings, and partitions. Constructs simple structures such as tool sheds, house frames, toolboxes, and outbuildings. Fits, cuts, and fastens all types of wall covering (paneling, sheet rock, plywood, etc.) Directs and trains assigned helpers and apprentices.
