Summary About the Position: Serves as an interior Designer within the Engineering Directorate with the responsibility for the planning, design, and review of new and/or conversion, extension, or modernization of existing buildings or facilities. Responsibilities Prepare contract documents, AutoCAD/Revit models/drawings/renderings, furniture procurement packages, amendments, modifications for furniture and installation services using knowledge of furniture requirements and Federal regulations. Prepare independent furniture estimates and evaluate cost proposals to assure compliance with contract documents and cost realism. Track project progress and costs throughout life of the project ensuring that schedules are maintained within established budget. Oversee and monitor the installation of furniture and finishes ensuring work is in compliance with contract documents. Develop interior design packages for assigned projects, incorporating the most recent technology as it relates to design, equipment systems, and construction techniques. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) developing comprehensive interior design packages, reviewing plans for constructability and identifying changes if necessary; 2) creating plans, section details and schedules; 3) ensuring technical quotes submitted by furniture manufacturers are in compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations during construction; 4) monitoring and coordinating with project managers and other applicable parties involved in the completion of architectural and interior design construction phases of projects; and 5) preparing equipment procurement packages to include detailed furnishing and equipment layouts, schedules, power and communication requirements, cost estimates, and specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of wprk performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Architecture Design Financial Management Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
