Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries are seeking a skilled and motivated Computer Repair Technician to join our Fab9 Electronics Repair Center (ERC) team in Essex Junction, Vermont. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various aspects of computer systems used in manufacturing tools in our factory. This includes industrial computer systems, servers, PLCs, industrial standard motherboards and cards, controllers, data backup and recovery tools, and general electronics assemblies. This role supports our operations to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our computing infrastructure.
The candidate will be primarily responsible for diagnosing hardware and software issues, performing repairs, and conducting tests to ensure proper functioning. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to develop and document standard operating procedures for repairs and maintenance tasks, specifically focusing on computer hardware and software issues.
This position requires an educational background in computer hardware and software, component-level troubleshooting, and repair methodologies. The position is a full-time role with a flexible schedule to support our 24/7 operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues with industrial computers and peripherals.
Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including component-level repairs, software installations, system updates, and hard drive cloning.
Repair controllers, power supplies, motherboards, PLCs, and ISA or PCI cards, and other general electronics assembly.
Use diagnostic tools and software applications to identify and resolve technical issues.
Exhibit excellent soldering skills for repairing circuit boards and other components.
Develop and document standardized repair procedures and job breakdown sheets for various tasks.
Collaborate with team members, engineers, and technicians to effectively resolve issues and provide technical support.
Utilize data mining and research capabilities to support diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair processes.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to document repair activities and provide status updates.
Maintain a learning and mentoring mindset, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Support critical tool down repairs with high quality and efficiency.
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:
Technical associateu2019s degree in computer technology or equivalent experience in computer hardware/software repair.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer repair and maintenance.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a tightly knit team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Physical capacity to lift up to 35 pounds, bend, and twist.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience with component-level repairs of computer systems and peripherals.
Experience with various operating systems including UNIX, Microsoft DOS and Windows, and proprietary systems.
Experience with the maintenance and repair of controllers, power supplies, hard drive cloning, PLCs, and circuit boards.
Strong team player with the ability to work well within a global team.
Expected Salary Range
$45,000.00 - $77,800.00
