Support Services Aide (Dietary/Laundry/Housekeeping) – Long-Term Care Facility | Casual


Blue Mountain Hospital District in John Day, OR is seeking a Support Services Aide to work in the laundry, dietary, and housekeeping departments. As a Support Services Aide, you will be responsible for following established facility policies and procedures to effectively perform assigned duties. It is essential to adhere to safety guidelines and precautions in each department, especially when working with hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, medical waste, and equipment.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities


- Perform daily cleaning tasks in accordance with rules, regulations, and district policies

- Communicate and coordinate cleaning schedules with other departments as necessary

- Ensure adequate supply of supplies in restrooms and common areas

- Demonstrate new products and cleaning techniques as needed

- Conduct regular inspections to maintain clean and sanitary conditions

- Properly store cleaning supplies during the day and at the end of each shift

- Dust mop and wet mop floors as necessary

- Thoroughly clean resident rooms and bathrooms on a regular schedule

- Clean resident units within 24 hours after a resident is discharged if possible

- Maintain the lobby and other common areas in a neat and orderly manner

- Take cubicle curtains to laundry for cleaning every 6 months and replace them when finished

- Wash all beds and mattresses on a regularly scheduled basis

- Thoroughly clean tub rooms on a regular schedule

- Clean employee breakroom, including microwave and countertops

- Perform extra cleaning duties when requested by supervisor or other departments

- Handle food in accordance with sanitary regulations

- Prepare palatable and appetizing food according to requirements

- Serve food at the proper temperature and set up resident trays properly

- Take resident meal orders in a courteous manner

- Assist in the orientation and training of dietary department personnel

- Maintain census records and other required paperwork

- Handle the collection, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of all laundry and linens

- Handle soiled and clean linens according to regulations and facility policy

- Properly clean and store equipment at the end of each shift

- Empty lint from dryers on a regular basis for safety

- Operate equipment in respective departments according to established policies and procedures

- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work area, reporting safety concerns to the Manager of Support Services

- Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures

- Keep the Manager of Support Services informed of supply needs


Schedule


- Required to work weekends and holidays with varied shifts

- May need to work beyond normal working hours as workload necessitates
