How do I load pre-sold gift-card balances so they still redeem after cutover?

Load pre-sold balances as credits on the customer or recreate gift-card codes under Store → Gift Cards. Import often lands credits rather than codes. POS gift-card payment is a third path and does not spend those codes or credits.
What Zettlor does today
Universal and CSV import can grant dollar credits on the customer. Gift-card codes are a separate record under Store → Gift Cards. Online checkout redeem uses those codes. Some imported value arrives as credits. POS gift-card payment records a register sale without reducing either balance. Map each legacy card to a code or a customer credit, not both, and not to POS gift-card payment.
This behavior is partial: some of it is live, and the rest is a desk workaround rather than a missing settings screen you should hunt for. Guest booking, cancel, and credit self-serve steps stay on Help. This page is for operators.
Desk path
Advanced → Import to grant credits, or Store → Gift Cards to recreate codes. Confirm the guest can redeem on a test sauna or cold plunge checkout. Do not test with POS gift-card payment.
Do not invent a settings path beyond what is listed here. If the product does not include a control, the desk workaround is the path.
Failure mode
Staff paste old codes into Zettlor checkout; they fail because import created credits without codes. Guests think the gift card died at cutover.
Operator example
Ro imported outstanding gift value as credits on each customer, then emailed guests that booking checkout would apply store credit rather than the old 12-character code.
A sauna and cold plunge operator can copy the shape of this example without copying another brand's private pricing or customer lists.
How to do this
- Export outstanding balances from the old system.
- Decide per row: recreate a gift-card code, or grant credits on the customer.
- Import or issue on the surviving customer after duplicate merge.
- Test one redeem on booking checkout before you flip the calendar.

Does the register spend imported credits?
POS gift-card payment does not spend imported credits or staff-issued codes. Prefer booking or store checkout redemption, or credits on the customer that you know spend at booking.
